Do I still need to use 54g protection if I am 54g only? I currently have it checked, but didn't know if it helped filter out signals better from other .11b APs (there are a lot in my neighborhood).

this was a great router, and microsoft had a really slick interface for it. It is a crying shame they refused to fix the bugs.
sure you can use both. You can use the 500g as your router/ap and the 614 as a door stop.
I know Asus says otherwise, but Xbox Live works just fine with the latest firmware from Asus. I use the Xbox Wireless Adpater from Microsoft and it worked great. COnnected up first at 48mbps and...
