You have set it to "-5" which is probably same as "-1" = unlimited...

and change SYSLOG=/opt/var/messages to this: SYSLOG=/tmp/syslog.log

Same happened to me yesterday, after flashing and reboot I started busybox and transmission as usual, permission denied :(

so I finally managed to get everything working (oleg, hdd, thttpd, lighttpd, syslogd, transmission, rtorrent)... but transmission seems try to connect to only 50 seeds and my torrent looks...
