I'm quite confused by your manual about starting samba and ssh, when i logon to the wl500g with telnet i dont have the directory init in /usr/local.
So i probably don't have the pre-boot...

I don't think we can make much out of your story, the printer thing is clear but the rest looks like abracadabra ;)
For the printer, on this location you can find a howto for win2k or XP....

I'm not really interested in statistics, more in realtime troughput so i can view my up/download in kb or mb (my provider does store statistics)
If it's a deamon it's oke if there is a win32 client...

Maybe you have to use:

nvram set bootCmd0="/usr/sbin/nmbd -D"
nvram set bootCmd1="/usr/sbin/smbd -D"
nvram commit
reboot

I got it working!!
I changed signed in wl500g. (Under LAN/IP settings)
BootCmd is working fine, the logfiles looked good this time, no errors.

I think my bootCmds should be oke, how can i check what it is starting?

When i check the log i get the following:
