Go to the web interface and select the appropriate operation mode. I'm not sure of the name, but you'll find it easily. It can act as a bridge, although I've never tried it.

I have a fully working wl500gx, with Oleg's 1.9.2.7 firmware, with an USB harddisk and swap partition. I'm running enhanced-ctorrent on it.

My problem is that enchanced ctorrent eats up...

False. Wl500g can do 2MB/s over NFS. I use it this way.
The partition it's working on is an ext3. NTFS accesses probably need more CPU.

I've got like 1.8 MB/s for NFS (rsize=32k, wsize=32k). And that's with ext3 as underlying fs.

Is there a way to get more? 1.8MB is OK for mp3 or dvdrip, even a single-layered dvd, but its not...

Turns out it was a firewall. It works fine now, although the speed is a little low (1.8M/s). I think I'll use nfs on windows, too, for speed reasons. smb and ftp support is not needed anymore then....
