Use WPA PSK with AES and some nice 63 random PSK, the Broadcom CPU has support for this type of encryption in HW.. as for slowdowns, using 2 WL-500Gx I see no difference in speeds.

Two WL-500Gx, 1km link, 80% LOS

TX power on first WL-500gx = 14mW (using 15 dB antenna,1m pigtail)
TX power on second WL-500gx = 8 mW (using a 22dB antenna,5m pigtail)

Max throughput: 2,5MB/s...

Just noticed one problem... the AP sometime resets to defaults :( This seems to have been fixed in the official 1.9.3.6 FW from ASUS (1. Fix: reset to default problem). Is there any way to fix it in...

Why don't you just look for the proper name when you telnet to the AP?

cd /dev/XXX ....

Thanx, but I am using both WL-500gx in AP mode.. I am asking because it seems that after using eMule and exiting it the LAN and AIR LED's keep blinking for some hours and then all of a sudden stop....

working fine so far.. could you perhaps implement a setting to allow the max number of TCP connections and also timeout for these connections? (i.e for ppl who use eMule or other p2p tools..)

I was wondering what speeds are ppl getting when transferring between two WL-500gx. With my 1km link I get around 1,5-2,5 MB/s when doing FTP transfers which seems VERY good compared to what...

this is for those running their WL-500G's in bridge mode. I wanted my AP's (one as AP, other as AP Bridge) to synchronise with the NTP servers, yet there was no option when running in AP...

This official FW works very nice.. no dropouts, client works with WPA, nice speed (1,5km link @ 2MB/s average)

Thanx a lot.. :cool: I was cautios because it seems that DD-WRT v.23 bricked the AP beyond any repair -- so everyone else beware if you wish to try DD-WRT.
