WL-500gP V1/2 and HP Laserjet 1022 (compatibility) and various questions

I'd like to buy one of the two versions of this router, but http://www.asus.com/999/html/share/2...ndex.htm#wl500 here I see that the printers compatibility is very very limited to a few models.
I wonder if there is any way to use my HP 1022 printer using a custom firmware.
Furthermore, is the usb storage transfer speed as fast as (>10Mbps) to use an external usb hd for regular backups from 2 or 3 computers?
What about compatibility with Win,osx and linux?
