New 500 gig Harddrive installation proceedure

I want to upgrade the internal drive to a 500gig

I read a few post saying that its easy just load the new drive and reflash.

But thats just it ......
if i connect the new drive or no drive , the device fails to boot. Just hangs before boot.

The only time it boots is with the old 250 hitachi.


i cannot delete the 250 hitachi or rename it as no drive name is present and the web interface throws an error.

I tried the unofficial firmware , no success........

Does anyone know how to get this thing to boot with a blank 500gig connected or a manual way outside of the unit for me to preconfigure the drive so it will boot happily /???
