Jetzt habe ich mich auch hier angemeldet.
Ich habe seit ein paar Monaten Olegs Firmware auf dem 500GP drauf (in Verbindung mit dem E220 - Easybox II).
Alles funktioniert(e) mit der V10 wunderbar, bis ich heute auf die glorreiche Idee kam, die neue Firmware für die easybox (http://www.vodafone.de/easybox)
aufzuspielen. Diese verspricht Datenraten mit bis zu 7,2Mbit.

Und jetzt kann ich mit dem Router die easybox nicht mehr zum Connecten bringen, die originale Vodafone-Software funktioniert aber.

Woran kann's liegen?

Also den Trick mit bis zu 7,2 Mbit ist wohl blanke Luege oder ein lustiger Werbetrick. Es gibt in ganz Europa keine Zellen, welche 7,2 Mbit koennen - vielleicht in grossen Knoten, aber davon gibt es nicht einmal eine Hand voll....
Ansonsten sind wohl 2 Mbit das theoretische (niemals praktische) Maximum.

Ich wuerde die Log Files anschauen, wie sich Dein Modem zu erkennen gibt.
Eventuell sind die USB Vendor/Device ID (12d1:1003) anders als urspruenglich.

Schau einmal nach ob ein Dir /dev/usb/tts existiert.
Darin muessten 2 Lines (ls /dev/usb/tts) definiert sein, dann wird wenigstens das Modem richtig erkannt.

Ach ja, ich hoffe Du meinst die Koppel FW (ist aber auch Olegs...)

Wenn's gar nicht geht, Downgrade.......

Downgrade ist leider nicht möglich. Es gab keine Möglichkeit, die alte Firmware zu sichern, und auch bei Vodafone gibt's die nicht mehr ... :-(
Es sei denn, einer von euch hätte noch was rumliegen..?

Ich habe leider von Linux 0 Ahnung und war froh, das das mit plug&play alles lief.
Aber versuche mal was rauszufinden.

So, ich habe das jetzt 2x zum Laufen bekommen, jeweils nach einem kompletten Factury Default.
Nachdem ich jedoch die Standardeinstellungen getätigt habe und einmal auf Finish drücke, wählt sich das Modem nicht mehr ein.

Ok, soweit erkennt der Router das Modem.
1.) Hast Du das Modem auf 3g gestellt?
2.) Dein Connect Script geht nicht mehr, leider muss ich Dich noch etwas vertroesten, z.Zt. bin ich nicht mit meinem Router unterwegs. Sobald ich nachsehen kann (heute etwas spaeter), kann ich Dir vielleicht noch einige Hinweise geben.
3.) Gut ist jedenfalls, dass alles gestartet wird, nur nicht verbunden werden kann. Ad Hoc kann ich nur vermuten, dass durch Dein FW-Update eventuell ein Eintrag bei der Einwahl nicht mehr stimmt. Sehe bitte in der Zwischenzeit im Inet nach (sofern Zugang vorhanden), ob die von meinem Link uebernommenen Einwahldaten auch wirklich noch stimmen oder ergaenzt werden koennen.
4.) Ab ca. 22:30 bin ich wieder online

Ach ja, bitte die Ausgabe von 'ls /dev/usb/tts' , das sind nur 2 Zahlen.
Und dann auf der Konsole einmal eingeben 'killall pppd' und ca. 2 Minuten warten. Falls es damit gehen sollte bitte kurze Info.

1.) Im Windows kannst Du ja das Modem auf 3g, gprs und 3g bevorzugt einstellen, das sollte auf 3g stehen, damit das Modem nur eine 3g Verbindung bekommt.
2.) Ja alles sollte automatisch zugewiesen werden, trotzdem musst Du unbedingt probieren die DNS Server und APN per Hand einzutragen.

Dass ls /dev/usb/tts nichts anzeigt ist ein eher schlechtes Zeichen. Das Modem wird nicht richtig eingebunden. Versuche einmal einfach ein 'reboot', sollte es gehen, steht die Loesung einige Postings vor Deinem...
Und pppd lauft auch nicht, kann auch nicht, weil das Modem nicht ordentlich eingebunden wird.
Notfalls kann man sich direkt an den Entwickler Engy wenden.
Lass es mich wissen.....

ich habe rebootet und jetzt kommt immerhin nach ls /dev/usb/tts
eine '0 1'.
Anscjließend killall pppd
und nun bin ich im Webinterface auf "connect" gegangen und das Modem hat die Verbindung aufgebaut!?
Jetzt getraue ich mir gar nicht, nochmal zu rebooten, dann geht das Theater bestimmt von vorn los!

Wie bekomme ich das ganze zuverlässiger hin?
Was bedeuten die 0 und die 1?

Dass die Verbindung sich von alleine repariert, ist ein sehr gutes Zeichen. Das macht der ppp Daemon nach ca. 5 Minuten - somit haben wir ziemlich sicher auch die Loesung. Es ist ein Timing Problem, das Modem braucht etwas mehr Zeit!

Nun ist die Loesung relativ einfach:
Folgendes auf der Console (Telnet) nach der Anmeldung am Router eingeben:
Nicht vergessen mit 'i' in den Insert Mode gehen:

vi /tmp/local/sbin/watch_once

Danach die Post-boot aendern, am Ende einfach folgende Eingabe machen:

vi /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot

Nicht vergessen mit 'i' in den Insert Mode gehen:

(Mit 'ESC:wq' beenden)

Jetzt noch:

chmod 755 /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot

und natuerlich: (um alles zu speichern)

flashfs save && flashfs commit && flashfs enable && reboot

Das war es!

In der Postboot gibst Du dem Modem etwas Zeit (sleep 20), wenn es geht kannst Du die Zeiten wieder kuerzer machen=Optimum.
Auch in der Watch_once kannst Du spaeter die Zeit verkuerzen (sleep 25).
(Der User WL500G-Novice hat damit seine Probleme beheben koennen)
Wenn alles laeuft, kann man natuerlich noch weiter kuerzen......

Also, meine Konfig hat ja immer gut funktioniert, aber seit ca. 1 Woche, connect der Router mit dem Modem nicht ins I-Net .... Zwischendurch funktionirt es immer wieder mal ... aber so wie heute, gehts mal wieder überhaupt nicht ... ich hab mal den Sys. Log angehängt, zumindest den letzten Teil, ich hoff ihr könnt mir helfen!

Ich hab am Router nichts verstellt ... und wenn ich des Modem Direkt am Lppi hänge, funzt des I-Net auch einwandfrei! :(

Fuer mich sieht es so aus, dass dein Modem noch nicht initialisiert ist.
Ich wuerde einmal in die postboot bei sleep 30 einfuegen, vielleicht braucht das Modem noch etwas Zeit. Vergiss nicht chmod 755 /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot und flashfs.....
Kontrolliere bitte nochmals die Einstellungen im Webif..
Hoffentlich geht Dein Modem samt Router, damit du nicht wieder am Fenster sitzen musst.... LOL

Ein Dos Fenster am PC oeffnen und eingeben:
Telnet 192.168.1.1
admin (mit der Enter Taste weiter)
admin (und Enter)
Jetzt bist Du auf der Console vom Router
eingeben:

chmod 755 /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot (enter)
echo sleep 30 >> /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot (enter)

danach Kontrolle:
cat /tmp/local/sbin/post-boot (enter)

wenn sleep 30 drinnen steht nachfolgende Befehle eingeben (jeweils enter)

flashfs enable
flashfs save
flashfs commit
reboot

Wenns nicht geht, gibt es noch andere Wege....

Hmmm ... Hab das jetzt nun versucht, auch mit anderen Werten (60 / 120 / 180 / 30 ) hat nichts geholfen!

Bleibt wie immer, wählt sich stundenlang nicht ein, und plötzlich ist eine Verbindung da!

Aber Modem funzt 100%ig ... das komische ist ja nur, dass es am Anfang poblemlos funktionierte?!?!?

Schaue einmal nach, ob pppd laeuft (auf der Console):
'top'

mit 'q' beenden

wenn pppd laeuft, fuehre ein (oder mehrmals)
'killall pppd' durch und warte ca. 2 Minuten ob sich das Modem verbindet.

Lass mich wissen, wie es aussieht.....

der pppd läuft nicht, demzufolge kann ich auch nicht killen.

Und in letzter Zeit habe ich das System gar nicht mehr zum laufen gebracht.

Naja, so ad hoc kann ich schlecht sagen, woran das liegt.
Im wesentlichen sieht es so aus, dass ein dial in versucht wird, obwohl das Modem samt storage-teil noch nicht in dev/usb/tts/ auftaucht, also noch nicht eingebunden ist.
Ich werde mir das morgen einmal genauer ansehen, vorerst bitte einfach ein
od. mehrere Reboot versuchen. Da bei einem Reboot das Modem unter Spannung bleibt, muesste es schneller bereit sein = mit alten Einstellungen funktionieren.
Bitte um Bestaetigung.

Und noch etwas: ein guter Bekannter hat auch ein Modem-FW-update durchgefuehrt, trotzdem geht nichts schneller, eher langsamer (unter XP).
Er hat mir nicht glauben wollen, dass es nichts bringen wird. Das Problem mit den Geschwindigkeiten sind ja die Zellen und deren Anbindung ans INET, nie die theoretische Uebertragungsgeschwindigkeit zwischen Enduser und Zelle. Praktisch hat jede Zellenanbindung ins INET nur (bis auf ein paar Ausnahmen) 2mbit Leitungen und Uebertragungen. Leider ist es modern geworden, den Enduser fuer bloed zu verkaufen und im Windows-Systray 7,2 mbit anzuzeigen.
Leider hat mir noch nie jemand bestaetigen koennen, dass er 7,2 mbit erreicht. Und selbst wenn es solche Zellen gibt, muss man sich die gesamte Bandbreite mit allen Usern in der gleichen Zelle teilen - Marketing ist eben alles....

Hi an alle...tolles support forum als erstes...mir passiert grad was ganz komisches...ich und ein freund haben uns 2 wl-500gp v1 gekauft und 2 huawei e220...bei meinem freund hab ich nur mit echo sleep 30 eingetragen, chmod755 und sein modem baut die verbindung ganz von alleine auf...meiner nicht...und ueberhaupt wenn ich den router anmache nach einem kaltstart funktioniert der pppd daemon nicht nur wenn ich ein reboot von der konsole aufrufe....dan rebootet er und verbinded siche nach einiger zeit...
natuerlich hab ich die ultraklaren anleitungen von newbiefan durchgelesen, bekomme es aber einfach nicht hinihn starten zu lassen (hab natuerlich auch die Situation von Wl500g-novice durchgelesen)...das einzige dass ich noch nicht getan habe ist den echo sleep zu kuerzen z.B. auf 20 oder 10 weil dass hat ja den anderen user geholfen...

Wenn Du die Situation von Wl500g-novice durchliest, hast Du die Loesung.
Verwende die Scripts genau so, wie er sie eingetragen hat.

nichts zu machen die watch_once und der pppd daemon laufen erst nach einem warm-start...hab alles ausgefuehrt wie du es beschrieben hast aber nichts zu machen...erst wenn ich auf der konsole einen manuellen reboot eintippe (also nach warm-start) laeuft die watch_once und der pppd daemon...hab auch versucht wiedermals mit chmod 755 aber hat nichts geholfen...waere froh wenn du mir helfen koenntest.

Also, wenn das Modem nach reboot startet, bekommen wir es auch hin.
Wir muessen den script watch_once einfach auf deine Verhaeltnisse anpassen.
Wenn Du einen gP V1 hast, bitte das Modem am unteren Port anstecken.

Nach dem Start (power on) aber ohne Reboot bitte folgende Ausgaben:

1.) 'ls /dev/usb/tts'

2.) Wenn der obige Befehl "0" und "1" anzeigt bitte die Ausgabe von
'killall pppd' oder von 'top', ansonsten mit 3.) weitermachen

3.) Mache bitte ein: 'cd /tmp/local/sbin' und dann die Ausgabe von
'ls -al'

4.) Wenn unter 1.) die Ausgabe kommt: "dir nicht vorhanden", dann bitte die
Ausgabe von 'lsmod'

5.) Und nur zur Sicherheit die Ausgabe von:
cat /tmp/etc/resolv.conf

Danke, das freut mich wegen Hilfestellung und so.... das kommt von der Zeit als ich mit Linux anfing, jeder hat nur klug geredet, aber ich habe mit grosser Muehe herausfinden muessen, wie man ueberhaupt einen simplen File editiert und wie man die Rechte dazu vergibt. Deshalb will ich anderen den Einstieg in die Linuxwelt erleichtern, denn Linux ist toll - meiner Meinung nach viel besser als Wind..f - alleine wenn ich mir Vista anschaue, da wird man fuer bloed verkauft und Microsoft selber behauptet der User ist schuld! Da fehlt doch was in der Birne, wenn man nach einem Milliardengeschaeft immer noch nicht kapiert hat fuer wen man das OS macht. Vista ist jedenfalls extrem langsam und macht nie das was man will, obendrein hat die idiotischen Features kein Mensch gefordert, deshalb bin ich auch Linuxfan geworden.
So zu deinem Problem:
Dein Modem scheint ziemlich lange zu brauchen, bis es eingebunden wird.
Und da vorher die Abfrage auf ein existierendes Directory tts erfolgt, aber keines da ist, wird auch nie ein reboot ausgefuehrt.
Deshalb die Aenderung der Watch_once auf nachstehende Zeilen:
(alles andere loeschen)

#!/bin/sh
#Script watch_once

#wait for Modem
sleep 30
if [ ! -d /dev/usb/tts ] ; then #if dir doesn't exist, modem is not ready
reboot #perform a reboot

Aber als ersten Anfang schlage ich vor, Du setzt anstatt sleep 30 ein sleep 60ein. Falls das Modem noch nicht nach 30 Sekunden ready ist, erfolgt ein reboot.
Wenn aber aus irgend einem Grund kein Modem am Asus haengt, wird stets ein reboot ausgefuehrt - soweit ja egal, aber der Zugriff auf den Router wird schwerer, man muss halt innerhalb der 30 Sekunden etwas aendern. Deshalb bitte unbedingt vorerst mit sleep 60 anfangen und spaeter (wenn's geht) auf eine sinnvolle Zeit verkuerzen, muss nicht 30 sein, notfalls einen Reset durchfuehren.

EDIT: aehmmm, vergiss nicht flashfs..............&reboot, ansonsten ist jede Aenderung wieder weg!

danke fuer deine muehe und deiner bereitscaft anderen zu helfen...was windows angeht bin ich ganz deiner meinung...vista war wohl mit millenium microsofts groesster flop...deshalb bin ich zuerst auf ubuntu aufmerksam geworden,nur sind meine kentnisse was scripts angeht sehr sehr schlecht...hab dann meinen ersten hackintosh gebaut und wow mac os x (das ja auch ein unix system ist) fand ich einfach so toll dass ich mir sofort einen mini mac gekauft habe...windows ist jetzt meine dritte wahl...
ich werde sofort mal die aendereungen die du mir vorgeschlagen hast mal durchfuehren und ich hoffe dass es wir es mal hinkriegen...das komische ist nur: warum hat es bei meinem freund auf anhieb funktioniert ohne irgendwelche scripte wie watch_once oder post-boot? nur einfach echo sleep 30 und voila das modem verbindet sich sofort von selbst...
also mache mich sofort ran und versuche es...

aber jetzt meine frage: warum erkennt er das modem nach einem kaltstart nicht?warum muss der router erst rebooten damit er das modem erkennt? ich weiss in der informatik gibt's meist keine klaren gruende warum es bei einem sofort laeuft und bei einem andren nicht...aber trotzdem interessiert es mich zu verstehen warum es zwischen mir und meinem fruend bei gleicher hardware zu sowas kommt...

Ich wuerde einmal folgenden Versuch machen: Die Modems tauschen! Geht dein Modem nicht am Router vom Freund, ist vielleicht die FW vom Modem eine andere.....falls es geht liegt es am Asus, der kann z.Bspl. geringfuegig schneller sein, einfach dass das Modem noch nicht mit dem Initialsieren fertig ist, aber der Asus hat es schon einbinden wollen. Dann will der Asus das Modem zur Einwahl zwingen, aber es ist noch gar nicht mit dem initialisieren fertig (unrecognized option). Alle Microcontroller od. CPU's brauchen nach Power on etwas Zeit und die ist eben von Bauteilen abhaengig. Abweichungen von 1-3% sind die Regel. Und deshalb kommt bei gleicher Hardware oft eine etwas andere Startzeit usw. heraus, natuerlich spielt auch verschiedene Software (Firmware) eine entscheidende Rolle. Denkt man aber an die bei CPU's (Microcontroller) uebliche Geschwindigkeit von (bis zu) mehreren Millionen Befehle pro Sekunde, wird schnell klar, warum selbst eine Abweichung bei z. Bspl. Schwingquarze von 0,1% bereits zu voellig anderen Verhalten fuehren kann.

Freut mich, dass es nun supi geht....

so, ich will nun auch endlich mein Feedback abgeben.
Die easybox hatte ich inzwischen kaputtgeflasht; Vodafone hat mir innerhalb 2 Tagen eine neue zugeschickt (allerdings auch mit der 7.2Mbit Firmware).

Ich habe nun in der watch_once und post-boot die Wartezeiten noch höher gesetzt (sleep 60) und jetzt funktioniert es.
Allerdings ist scommodos, daß das Modem vom Router erst nach einem reboot richtig erkannt wird.
Aber immerhin ich ich jetzt wieder ein Schritt weiter und muss nicht mehr mit oleco ins Netz...

Vielen Dank, newbiefan für die Hilfe. Ich werde den Thread im Auge behalten.

Schau dir einfach mal die Oleg/Koppel an. Es geht ja sowieso auch alles was in der normalen Oleg drinnen ist.
Notfalls gehe ins englische Koppelforum und frage Engy, ob er eine neuere FW hat od. machen kann.
