have no idea what you exactly want to do
but use firmware 1.8.1.7-2 at all 3 units
and turn them into WDS with WPA turned on
be sure that every AP has the same SSID/WPA-KEY
should work (tested it here once..)

I want to create a wireless network in a large hall that uses roaming, WPA and the 802.11G (54 Mbps) standard.
I want to connect only one access point (or router) to the wired network.
What equipment do i need to use, the WL-300G or other ASUS WLAN products or a mix of products.
I want to start with three access points.
The other questions are - of course - how to setup this?
i've posted this question here, under the WL-500g forum, because i could not find an "overall" Q&A forum with Q&A of all the ASUS WLAN products.
i have no experience with wl300g, also because of the difference in price I would never buy 1 of those
just as I said you can configure them (use Hybrid instead of WDS)
just turn off dhcp on the others which are not connected by cable
and whoila it's working
Yeah, or search the forum for WDS + LAN and you will find this thread; http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=...ght=wds+lan+ap that may be very helpful alsoQuote:

Yes it is in WDS mode (Hybrid) and i'm using now the Firmware 1.8.1.7-2a on both AP's.Quote:

Going to try with 1.8.2.4 on both AP's and then couple the third WL-500G.
Well the fw 1.8.2.4 does not work to setup a WDS.Quote:

Adding the third WL-500g (with the same FW and same settings - except IP-address - and all three in the remote bridge list; AP mode = Hybrid) disturbs the correct working of the WDS. Many ping time-outs, cannot open the web page of the wireless points only the wired AP, etc.
The AP's are placed in a triangle and all three have contact with each other.
Can this be the problem? Are they to close to each other?
How can i solve this?
Hi,
Before I had come across the WL-500G, I was considering two modified WRT54g for the same purpose, but it seems as though the feature set on the 500g is far superior, not to mention better speed and range.
Now, I'm considering purchasing two WL-500G to use for WDS to transparently bridge two ethernet networks that are in two appartments about 150meters (500feet) apart, and I would ideally like to get 10mbit/s or more. I am willing to use special antenna for this purpose. I am wondering what kind of speeds people have been getting from the WL-500G in WDS mode. Are there any advantages of not using hybrid mode? Also how reliable is the WDS connection? Any other information related to this is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Romeus
wds is reliable, i am using it in a bureau. speed is at least 2 Mbit (thats what i have in mind), had never made speed checks so sorry about that.
only problem i have is that i dont get any connection between 2x wl-500g in wpa mode. wds with wep is workin but not with wpa
maybe someone else has wds with wpa running, he could give me a hint
yes use custom 1.8.1.7-2a or 1.8.1.7-3 should fit as welllQuote:

I've got three WL-500G's in WDS mode with WPA-PSK/TKIP+AES running. Use the 1.8.1.7-2a firmware.Quote:

When I reboot Asus no1 it connects to WDS and everything works fine.
Every night I have configured my Asus to disable the radio (it's placed under the bed to my daugther, so I don't want to expose her to wireless signals when she's sleeping). The next morning the radio is enabled automatic, but not it don't connect to Asus no2.
Have anyone got the same problem?
Or solution?
