Yes, this is expected behaviour. It's not lost, but flashfs was disabled. You've to use flashfs enable after the firmware upgrade.Quote:

So, I recommend everyone experiencing reboots or WAN port dies problem to exchange wl500g with wl500g deluxe, but keep in mind, that wl500g deluxe is not equiped with LPT port. Also, most likely wl500g v2 should appear (don't know the real name), which is based on hw similar to wl500g deluxe, so no wan port dies problem should happen with it.
I was able to reproduce the problem (there're two possible states, which hw could enter, but this is really hard to detect). My unit never rebooted. It's extremely strange, that some of you are experiencing reboots. So, perhaps some of the units are really defective...
ONCE AGAIN: replace defective wl500g units, which are rebooting with ASUS 1.8.2.4/1.9.x.x firmwares or 1.9.2.7-6a, but working fine with 1.8.1.7-3. This is perhaps a hw bug, which I'm unable to workaround.
I have asus WL-500g with firmware 1.9.2.7-6, and have no dissconnetion/reboot issues.Quote:

sorry, I have no HD inside the WLHDD at the moment, so I cant test if the file limit is gone..but something other is totally broken with this test version..no network browsing, no NFS...please take a look.Quote:

in the Windows Network I dont see other Windows/Samba/CIFS shares...I reinstalled the WLHDD-1.9.2.7-6a and everthing is ok. I'm sure there is something wrong....I fit a USB-Stick and CIFS/NFS works with the 'old' version.Quote:

This is due to time wrap, caused by ntp. Ignore this.Quote:

Everyone affected with this issue and experienced reboots/locks/disconnects/ping problems should try it.
macsat: try with emule
int, jbk: try using it
catdog: try fix speed set to auto
guch79: check for wan port dies
AiKoiN: try this firmware

Reset problem: Fixed
When i have test ftp server and samba, and the WL make one "restore default / reset"
I have discovered, that samba is now binding to all interfaces. 1.9.2.7-5a did binding only on LAN, but now it tries to find browsers even on WAN.
I thing all users who care should add following to /etc/smb.conf:Code:interfaces = br0
bind interfaces only = yes
Since i switched to 1.9.2.7.6a.2 and put the "WAN Connection Speed:" = 10Mbs half duplex, my wl500g never crashed/reboot/reset again. If i put in "auto" i will have problems again and the internet connection will be very slow.
Should i switch to 1.9.2.7.6a.3 to see if it works fine or should i stay in 1.9.2.7.6a.2?
Hi Oleg,
there is a problem with WL-HDD and firmware 6a.2 and ethernet speed set to AUTO. I cannot stream to harddisk without errors or dropouts because network speed seems to be slow. Configuration is unchanged.
If i set ethernet speed to 10 half everything seems to be ok.
Hello Oleg,
there is a problem with connection, ''firmware 6a.2'' , dropouts evry 15-20min. I`m back to 1.9.2.7-5a , WL500g runing 24/7 without any problems.
Tried with WPA-PSK and TKIP. But it does not work.
Trying 1.9.2.7.6a.3 since 2 days with wds and heavy upnp mediaserver traffic. No reconnects until now - after problems with the other releases of 1.9.2.7.6xxx this is the first real stable version for me....
ciao,
JBK
I went back to version cr5a after having problems with wireless connection
loss and dropouts with cr6.1 and cr6.2, then in version cr6.3 I had no wan connection at all, I`m using adsl pppoe. cr5a seems the most reliable for now.
regards jelly
Are you using WDS with WPA-PSK and TKIP or AES?Quote:

No - only WEP128 since some devices in my WLAN canīt understand WPA...

In previous versions I couldn't connect to my ftp-server over the internet with dyn-dns. I always got a time-out error. I think it's a wrong setting in the firewall of the wl500g.

Read this thread carefully and try 6a.3.Quote:
