Can anyone answer this, or is it a secret?:)

The question is incorerct.
There are two feeds in the repository:
unslung/wl500g (old)
optware/oleg (new)
The short answer is: use a new one and uclibc-opt and ipkg-opt are required packages for it.
Afterwards, you will anyway use 'ipkg' command to manage your packages.
Yes, this firmware works perfectly on a "simple" WL500g (use this one).
The ASUS web interface configuration is still available, a bit improved with news features included in Oleg's firmware.
Do not hesitate, just flash ;)
oops, sorry, please disregard
Upgraded from 1.9.2.7-7g to 1.9.2.7-8
Cannot run mpd now:
User defined signal 1
immediatly when trying to start
Anyone succeded ?
Upd:
lighttpd - same error
Think it was my mistake. I didn't save flashfs in webui before upgrade and, of course, cannot restore it after upgrade.
Probably missing some files....
I tried to upgrade again, and changed my channel from 13 to 12, since then the wireless has been stable for 7 days now as long as I use a laptop with Atheros wireless card, but the connection from a laptop with a Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card the connection is unstable, so I had to downgrade to the 7g version again to be able to use both my laptops.

I have an issue with wireless.
My WL500g is used as wireless access point only. Another machine is doing DHCP and the routing job.
When i wake up my PC from hibernation it fails to autheticate to the wireless network. I have to reboot in order to be able to connect.......
My laptop is using a Ralink RT61 based card. I have the same issue on my desktop PC with a Ralink RT2500 card......
I'm using WPA-PSK with AES......... I had no prolem wit 1.2.9.2.7g
Edit :Finally my main WL500 died yesterday evening, i guess the WLAN card gave up because it is still working fine for wired conections......Strange coincidence...... I replaced it with my other one and now it is working fine with older firmwre i will give the new one a try.
Same problems here with a centrino (Intel 2200BG): wireless signal gets lost, and will restore after 30secs or so. Went back to 7g also....
It is a pity, because WDS with WPA seemed to work :)
BTW: is there an easy way to get the wireless MAC of the WL500Gx (get it from the router-menu or alike)?
Hi,
during first 2 days mz ASUS was so good as never before. But today I recognized, the my syslog file is much more bigger as before.
As I find before, in same cases my WIRELESS PC couldnot get the IP by DHCP ...but my syslog shows something different:
Here is my log fyle regarding to DHCP:
so, by this was filled 5x 200kb syslog files.Code:Nov 26 10:51:01 Klub-Net1 daemon.info dnsmasq[72]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.30 00:08:02:33:03:0f admin-30fb4e58c

Using DHCP on my WIRELESS PC I couldnot connect. Using Fixed IP is everything works fine.
Any comments, why the DHCP hangs?
With best regards
WiZi
Hi Oleg,
upgraded from the previous release and it works great. Thank you for your effort!
Is it possible to upgrade dnsmasq to the latest version? The version which is included doesn't have support for tagging based on mac addresses (usefull for openvpn clients).
