Only a little in 2.4GHZ, didn't tested at 5GHZ yet.

I guess this router is not OK, waiting another to compare it. FTP could not pass 4mb/s... (vsftpd process is not used more than 10-20%)
The sensation i have here is that CPU is throttling, maybe heatsink is not mouted correctly, i really don't know...
Use InSSIder to see signal strenght please, bars are not so fidedign ;)
Thanks
Awesome, i found why FTP transfer rate was limited to 4mb/s, since im using a laptop with a 100MBIT NIC i knew perfectly that never could copy more than 10-11mb/s, the problem here was that samba could achieve that speed (10-11mb/s) but vsftpd couldn't, it was limited to 4mb/s, once i tested on a gigabit NIC i was able to copy 18mb/s. ;)
Don't know why but vsftpd does not achieve maximum of 100MBIT transfer rate, if anyone try could assist to this novel ;)
active or passive transfer?
I use WiFi between my router and NetworkMediaTank for looking movie from NAS connected to router.
I have around 4 Mb/s with SAMBA and 6.5 Mb/s with NFS(TCP).
The condition in air is good and I have same results on both bands and with 20/40MHz of the wide.
I don't know why I can't get the better speed.
I can see 300 mbit/s and almost high level of signal.
But never see the speed higher that 6.5 Mb/s
My RT-N66U with Toastman f/w
and I'm using E2000 like bridge with Tomato connected to NMT via ethernet 100 full duplex
and I think I should have the speed close by 9-10 Mb/s... :-(
I never use RT-N66U with stock firmware and may be I will try it for to clear the situation.
It will happen the same, its not FW issue, my tests were via cable not wireless ;)
I measured the wifi strenght with a nice test setup:
- Only 1 router turned on at a time
- Download a file via wifi from a pc
- Put the wifi client very far away :p (about 7m trough 3 walls) so hardly any signal is captured from the client
- Set the Wi-Spy up at 2 meters distance from the router
Le RT-N16 with oleg @ a whopping 400mW:eek:

Le RT-N66u with asus fw 3.1.0.3.90 @ only 40mW:cool:
http://i44.tinypic.com/t4y52v.jpg
Apart from the fact those mW don't really do much, the rt-n66u has about 5dBm more strenght:D
btw, I drew a yellow line trough the average line measured by the software... since that line is near to invisible in the scaled down version of the image I drew the yellow line.
so the yellow line is about the average +-1 dBm I guess :)
Hi!
Somebody know how good Tomato support Gbit WAN and LAN with RT-N66U?
Did anybody the test of speed WAN or LAN with Tomato on RT-N66U?
Thank you.
P.S. I can't to find the reason why I can't to get the speed higher 10 Mb/s...
I'm not proffessional or expirienced user and looking for my mistakes with
configuration. ->
NAS TS-119P+ ----- ETHERNET ------- RT-N66U -------- WiFi ---------- 2 PC and 3 laptops
NAS and Router have GigaBit Ethernet connections.
But even I try downlad any file from NAS and use all 5 computers via WiFi at ones
THE SPEED BETWEEN NAS AND ROUTER NOT HIGHER THAN 10 MB/S
But each of PC's or Laptops can do it with 3-6 MB/s or sum of all downloads should be higher and like I count about 20 MB/S !
I'm looking for bottleneck in my configuration.
Gonna do some testing ;)
You don't need to!
JJ did another test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKevpqBqUU0#!
:D
and yet again he says "lets go ahead" a lot:o:p
Yeah yeah but those tests/performances are with an External Antena ASUS EA-N66 (costs almost the same as router) ;)
I would like to see the USB performance over 20MB/s read / write loooooool
I have comment the 3rd time on they're mural LOL
"Let's go ahead" then :D
And what about ETHERNET performance like in my configuration?
What do you think about GIGABIT ETHERNET to 450mbps WiFI?
Thank you.
P.S. I never use external HDD with USB connection with router, because I have NAS with gigabit ethernet.
Unfortunately nobody give me the clear information about the own results of tests.
Only bla-bla-bla and information from Google from other same theoretics :-)
