WL-500g and USB Webcam problems
I have WL-500g 1.9.2.7-6b and Lifetec LT9388 USB camera. I found this camera working on router but unfortunetly only twice. After upgrading software it worked but after reseting completly not working. Camera working OK on win Xp.
How can I start it manualy on this software.
Any others ideas?

Webcam makes WAN speed drop
I have a Philips ToUcamII which works perfectly with my WL500Gx. However, I noticed that the WAN speeds are affected by the cam. When it is connected, my maximum up -and download speeds are half (or worse) of what they should be. My other devices (USB Hub, printer, USB stick, USB HDD) do not cause this speed drop.
Does anybody what could cause this?

But i see today in the log file the unknow ip adress acces my cam :mad:. The unknow ip can acces my webcam? Is it possible?
I protect my acces with password. A live in Hungary and the unknow ip from New York. How it find my roter/webcam?
How can i protect my acces :confused: ? It's very important for me, i don't want expose my family anybody.

USB hub (4ports) pb with webcam

So I plugged a logitech webcam on the USB port wl500gx (in other there is my USB key). I launched the webcam application (by clicking on preview on the web page) and it works fine.:cool:
But when I plug the hub on the USB port and the webcam on the hub, it doesn't work.:(
Oh I have to precise you that the hub has an external supply.
Do I have to add some nodes in the /dev/v4l directory ?
Do I need an additionnal driver for the hub ? :confused:

Webcam password and html files
Hi,
I'm using oleg's firmware v1.9.2.7-6b.
When running the webcam I have to give a user and password to connect.
These are the same as the one for logging in to the webinterface.
Is it possible to set a different one for the webcam ?
The other question is. Can I modify the html(asp) pages used for the webcam and use my own ?

I'm using Olegs firmware v1.9.2.7-6b.
I've followed the instructions on this website to get a working build environment. Now I can compile the complete stuff.
But I want to change the webcam behaviour.
I wanna use THTTPD as server for the images. Not using the activeX port.
And not using the default httpd server.
Where can I find in the source the stuff to change the behaviour when connecting the webcam to the usb bus ???
How can I force the system to use my rcamd version when testing it on the firmware and plugging in the camera ??

Q: Can I access the webcam via a php file on my thttpd server?
WL500G Delux webcam not working with USB Stick / HD
I am using OLEG 1.9.2.7-7f-pre7 firmware. When WL500gd only attach the Logitech Pro 4000 webcam, it work properly. After I and an USB stick or Harddisk, the webcam do not work.
After checking the syslog, I found the webcam is detected but the PWC driver had not load. In checking the running process using PS, only the rcamdmain exist. (In case the webcam work, there also has 3 rcamd process running).
I try manually execute the rcamd, but did not success. (/dev/video error).
I try execute rcamdmain, the program seems looped forever(it do not return the cursor). After I press CTRL-Z, it can quit the situation with the webcam working.
What is the correct way to load the webcam driver? (I had try execute rcamdmain in POST-BOOT, this will brick the WL500gd !)
Also, when the webcam work, how can I have motion detection (email alert)?

after playing around a bit with my WL500gP I finally got the attached webcam working the way I needed... Using camsrv and not rcamd anymore.
But there is one strange thing, like using rcamd the camsrv spawns three times and eats up all the cpu power

which leads to a high loadaverage (which is not that bad, i know) which somehow bothers me because the device is getting hotter when doing that much and the accessibility suffers from it.
Is there any conclusion? Or even an idea why those processes keep spawning themselves? Firs I thought rcamd needs it, is threaded or whatnot, but camsrv is not...

Is there any less cpu-power-consuming way to just get a fullquality (VGA is the max my cam does) picture without any timestamps on it serverd to the web?
Till I replaced it today, I used to have an old P1 with 133Mhz and 32MB ram doing the job running netbooted linux with vgrabbj... It took images every seccond and had a loadav around 0.2...
Is there anyone who can crosscompile vgrabbj ( http://vgrabbj.gecius.de/ )? I loved it because it is able to upload image via ftp :)
I'll take any advice to keep my load down and still get the image...

I bought a Genius Trek 310 Webcam and of course it doesn't work with my 500gP.
On the Cd I found a Linux driver.
Can somebody write me a step by step tutorial how can I active the webcam and access it from LAN/WAN?
And I would like a sample conf file for the stupid-ftpd or any other ftp server with comments.
