A few newbie questions

Hi:

currently i'm using an asus wl-500gP bored router with the original firmware. However it's my intention to buy one for me and to update to oleg firmware. For that i have same questions. Can i do the following:

1. At my work, i download and save a torrent file to my PC.
2. Using ftp, i place this file on the HD attached to the USB port of ASUS
3. By telnet or web access, i start a torrent program on the ASUS and add the file i just placed by ftp on the external HD.


Can this be done?

Can i also limit the upload speed on the torrents?

Hi,

Short answer: yes, yes, yes. :D

The better Version:

1. ssh to your router. (from where ever...)
2. Download the toorent file directly with wget
3. torrent will be started automatically.

I do it this way and it works perfect.

you can also control progress of torrents and access the files over scp, ftp, samba.

I think that 'vnstat' does this job pretty well. Probably you need to enable 'ipkg' on your router (see tutorials).
