The page that comes up when you hit 192.168.1.1 in your web browser. Whenever I mod the file, it turns the page blank. If I reboot the router, the old page comes back. I just want to put a custom page in there. Thanks!

well, I used a workaround. I changed the default web server to port 8081 and started lighttpd up on port 80. Now when I hit http://192.168.1.1 it goes to my custom code running on lighttpd.

anyone ever figure out why the default http server restarts itself automatically or why you can't edit any of those files?

The http server running on port 80 is highly customized by Asus. You can eventually kill it by trying multiple times in rapid succession. Asus has apparently hooked a restart mechanism as the default signal handler. It has to be killed before the handler is installed during startup.
