Hello all

I am trying to upgrade my wl500g from 1.8.1.1 to 1.8.1.9
but ir is not working :(
i dont know what to do

I hvae to telnet nor SSH

each time when i upgrades from web interface its does as if it is upgrading but i have always the same firmware number on that page is always 1.8.1.1

i tried different versions 1.8.1.7 1.8.1.3 or even 1.7* CR3 without result

the firmware restoration utility on original CD does not found any Spacelink router in restoration mode, and the latest utility i downloaded does for 30 secs connecting to router that stops.

I cant understand what is happening.

I even tried to put the firmware on the Usb key coping the formware to /tmp as linux.trx with the command mv than doing
mv /tmp/harddisk/wg01080109_WL500g_EN.trx /tmp/linux.trx
than
mtdutil upgrade /dev/mtd/1 /tmp/linux.trx
reboot
with http://192.168.1.1/Main_AdmStatus_Content.asp
now i really dont know what can i do :(

thanks for your reply

Use firmware restoration utility, it should work.
For this to work either specify IP address for your PC manually, or wait until Windows assigns one due to dhcp timeout. Also, you should use wired connection.

I tried this but it did not work.
so i sniffed the packets with ethereal.
I got the result as below
(i am on default config with wireless on 64bit open shared key, router is 192.168.1.1 and pc on lan port is 192.168.1.2)
1) where is 192.168.1.49 (why it is searching 49?)
2) tftp on 255.255.255.255 !!! (10 times approx)
3) tftp on 192.168.1.255 !! ( 10 times approx)

the tftp port does not work on the router i just tried
now i dont know what to do

and the firmware update utility says "no router found in RESCUE mode"

i dont understand anything

does your router go into Firmware restoration mode anyway if you tell it to do so? (hold restore and power on wl500g release when powerled begins to flash)

Thank you very much

I upgraded the router and now it works fine. :D :D :D
not a single problem since the upgrade

I will test big number of tcp/ip wan connexion (more than 300) and tell you if the wan port dies and if yes what happens.

thanks once again
