libao with esd support

I'm trying to setup a wireless jukebox with two devices, a streamer and a sound daemon. The streamer has mpd, which I can control remotely and has esd network output. The sound daemon only runs esd.

Unfortunately the libao package from the optware oleg repository only has oss support, and therefore mpd cannot output to an esd network device. Is there a simple way to fix this? Can anyone release an updated package (Oleg ?)?
