New firmware and "My network Place" (Windows XP)

Good afternoon,
I just flashed my 500gp with this new firmware, and I can see a big difference in stability, especially the ftp access (I have a FAT32 USB HD plugged in).
However, I do have one problem, I need to map a network drive (under windows XP) for my PVR (GBPVR actually) to access the files (videos).
If I navigate in the workgroup, I can see the router, but it is refusing me access (can't access the files) so I can't map a drive. Any idea why? Has this something to do with Samba? Is there any settings I should set in order to be able to see the files on the HD, from an XP plateform?

Certainly, support of windows network is performed using samba. So, you have to investigate how to perform it's configuration. There are good howtos here. Sorry I don't remember how it looked like when I installed the router for the first time. After configuration everything is accessible in r/w mode.

One more possible reason --- is your hdd recognized and mounted at all?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is mounted fine, and I actually like this firmware very much, it really increased my speed to access the HD (I have 2 FAT32 partition of 190GB). Using FTP, I get 2.5 MB/s in average, which is much better than the official firmware.
I don't know much about Samba but I am going to learn if I have to.
I suppose a few scripts need to be run in the router in order to fully use Samba (looks like it is just a demo at the moment).
Is there a Howto somewhere?

The howto is simple. I suggest you install fully featured samba through ipkg. There are 2 versions available (samba2 and samba (3)). Personally for me it is enough samba2. Then you modify /opt/etc/samba/smb.conf to fit your needs, and make sure that there is a startup script in /opt/etc/init.d Actually, that's all.
