PPPoE stops working once USB hard drive is plugged in

Hi All,

I have a WL500gP and there is a problem I'm trying to solve (but obviously I cannot solve it).

When a USB hard drive is connected to the router, the router would no longer be able to maintain the PPPoE connection. As soon as the USB hard drive is removed, it is able to re-connect to the ISP using PPPoE. I tried two different Asus firmwares and the Oleg firmware [1.9.2.7-7g] (this is the one I am using now and it is much better than the ones from Asus for sure).

Below is the log soon after the USB hard drive is connected to the router:

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

my router didn't have enough power to power
a 2.5" hd......

I had to plug it in both usb ports........
parallel.......... plugs from the cable

hence twice the power......then I plug the usb key onto the second power only usb connector

Just a quick update.

Still don't know how to fix this problem. Once the drive is plugged in, the PPPoE connection will drop. The drive has its own power adapter. Router can see the drive. Even tried connecting it to a power hub and then have the power hub connected to the router, same issue.
