Hallo,
I just decided to replace my linuxrouter by a small linux embedded wl500g and all wents right until I tried to set up firewall-roules... I've spent up to 8 hours yesterday and finaly I've restore all changes to get it working again ;-)

Since I'm using Linux, I'm using Shorewall as firewall on all of my computers. I've seen a firmware-image for the linksys wrt54g comming with shorewall installed.

Is there any firmware for the wl500g providing shorewall too? - If not, where can I find a Howto, how to install (compile) it - based on the source-package from http://wl500g.dyndns.org/ ?

Thx,
Arne

On the same page. See recompiling section.

I would suggest you to manipulate iptables directly, rather than "playing" with shorewall.

thx for replay. Maybe you're right and setting up an iptable skript will be the faster (and better) way. On the ower hand shorewall is a very simple but powerfull tool to set up firewall, routing and so on... it would be nice to have it on wl500g too.

In addition I would like to say, that I have read the "recompiling" section and compiled the package succesfull ;-) But I'm still not familiar with the toolset... copy the additional Packages to the "router"-directory in buildpath and modifiying config/Config-File and so on... haven't found a howto on this yet.
