I cannot help you, because I want the same thing getting to work, I was using the builtin uuencode. I think you can't send mail only with mpack, it doesn't know your smtp server. I think it should be piped to a mailer like the builtin mini_sendmail.

YOu do not understand mpack. Issue
mpack -s Title -o out.mime /tmp/harddisk/test.txt

Then use mini_sendmail to send out.mime file

Is it also possible to use uuencode? And to pipe the output to mini_sendmail, instead of putting it in a file first?

You can always pipe if you know how to do it.

And yes, there is
/usr/bin/uuencode

in stock oleg firmware.

Can you tell me how?

For example:

MAILFROM=domeone@msn.com
MAILTO=SOM@sss.com
MAILOPT="-smail.mns.net -f"
( echo "From: <${MAILFROM}>
To: <${MAILTO}>
Subject: Watch this out
------------------
Please find file attached.
";
uuencode /tmp/harddisk/a.png -
) | mini_sendmail ${MAILOPT}${MAILFROM} ${MAILTO}

For example:

Well I thought my mail program would understand uuencode, but I can only see the contents of the file, instead of the file itself. Coding between begin -- end.

So it looks like I also have to use mpack. How is Asus sending files from the motion detection software? Shouldn't it also work with standard programs?

When using mpack, is it really necessary to place a file somewhere? I want to use it in my script and I don't want to get files outside the script...:(

Think so...

I would like to know how the stock-firmware can send a motion detection picture, it must be something like this...
The only difference is that I want to send a montly report from a custom script. (csv file)
