Hi People,

i'm at the end of my knowledge. I'm not a linux guru. :(
I connect the HP OfficeJet G85 to the wl700ge, on the printer config page is writen:
Connected Printers:
Printer Manufacturer Model Serial
OfficeJet-G851 Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet-G851 XXXXXXXXXXXX

So the printer is accepted (i think).
After i create a new printer in winxp as described, and try the test page. And nothing happens. After a minute or two i receive the xp-bubble saying the document can not be printed.
Anybody please HELP!!!

thanx

maybe you need a alternative driver from hp (which is also usable for this printer) in windows xp to print over network...

this is the case with my hp-psc 1315 because the driver from hp 1315 isn't a network driver.

Hello!

I am new in this forum. I have the same problems with the G85. Can you tell me which driver you installed instead of the origianel G85 driver?

Thank you!!

Thanx for reply Dudes!

I'll try the HP drivers, good chance! The drivers i set up? I don't know. It was the default winxp sp2 driver (i think). I just picked it from the list. If wanna see vendor and version, i can tell you tonight (at home, 'couse i'm at work now).

best regards,

peterke

Hey Guys,

no success with the hp original drivers.
Still the same situation: printer detected by the 700ge, but can't print. if i try to set up the printer double-clicking the shared link under the 700ge's shares, after the installation the printer has no port selected, and if i press countinue printing, it responds access denied.

PLEASE HELP!!! ANYBODY!!!

thanx

Hi Friends,

everytime i try to print, i get this 2 lines added to the system log:

Feb 1 23:28:44 printd[22363]: Startup
Feb 1 23:28:44 printd[22363]: bind: Address already in use

Does this have a meaning?

Best Regards,

Feb 1 23:28:44 printd[22363]: bind: Address already in use

No. It'll happen every time you view the status page. Opening the page causes the router to try to re-run printd. Since printd is already running, any further instances won't run because the network port it uses is already being used by the first instance.

I see this all the time and printing works OK for me using a generic USB to parallel cable.

Hi again!

Now i'm tricking. After i unpluged the printer from the router, and pluged into the notebook directly, i was unable to print. After i powered down the printer, and pluged back the power supply, the print was ok.
After i restarted the router and connected the printer again, the printing was impossible again. But since that i see the following 2 lines repeating every 2 minutes:
Feb 2 18:55:49 printd[903]: Startup
Feb 2 18:55:49 printd[903]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 18:57:34 printd[938]: Startup
Feb 2 18:57:34 printd[938]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 18:59:19 printd[973]: Startup
Feb 2 18:59:19 printd[973]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 19:01:04 printd[1008]: Startup
Feb 2 19:01:04 printd[1008]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 19:02:49 printd[1043]: Startup
Feb 2 19:02:49 printd[1043]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 19:04:34 printd[1078]: Startup
Feb 2 19:04:34 printd[1078]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 2 19:05:13 -- MARK --
Feb 2 19:06:19 printd[1113]: Startup
Feb 2 19:06:19 printd[1113]: bind: Address already in use

Do anybody have a good idea?

Now i try the g95 driver.
I'll be back! :D

best regards,
peterke

Hi Friends,

i'm out of knowledge! :(
With g95 driver can't help.
That the 2 lines described above are repeating periodically, tells me, that the router gets the job, the spool works, but can't put it to the printer 'couse the driver in the linux can't connect to the printer.
is it possible to extend the linux with a driver mathcing to my printer?

thanx again!

Hi Friends,

the asus's printer compatibility site is now updated:
G85 is supported only via paralell port!
What?
Where can i find the paralell port on the 700gE? :D
What you think guys, an usb2lpt adapter would help me?
