I have succesfully connected an old Nokia data cable to my Wl500g deluxe.
I can read the port, with hyperterminal, when I echo to tts/0 it shows up in hyperterm. So far so good.

My goal is to setup a website with solar power output graphs generated with RRDtool.

I have my Solar Inverter (Mastervolt Soladin 600) connected to the serial port.
I know the hex commands to issue to the inverter, to get the results back. This works on my computer.

How can I test if communication is allright inside the asus? I don't know much about linux, but I'm trying.

My idea is that I need a cron job to read some variables, dump them into a file, an let RDDtool read the file to process the data.

It would be great to see a sample script to get my data from the inverter.

(unfortunately, the inverter stops after the sun is gone, so my testing time is limited....)

____

I wrote a script in bash which does the job. And that works!
