Hi,
I just discorevered that nemosoft (http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/) stopped his support for the Philips webcam driver PWC. AFAIR this is used to access the webcams.

Any ideas or further information?
Will this affect also the Logitech Sphere/Orbit support?

A german news ticker explains the complete story also:
heise.de -> PWC is dead (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/50450)

Kind regards,
Torx (greetz to MK)

If you talk about firmware, then the answer is no, it will be there. Of course it will not not updated anymore. So newer cams will not be supported. Also, most of kernels have never used PWC compression, because of binary only module available.
On the other hand this is really sad. :(
Sometimes linux kernel maintainers ideology looks a bit mad, but they're all thinking about stability. And it's become very hard to contribute anything other than money. :)
