slow speed when connected to internet

Hi!

Recently bought wl500gp. But it is not working as it should.

Have PPPoE Internet and 6Mbit download and 0,8 mbit upload.
Have one router (wl500gp), one laptop and one computer.
Asus firmware 1.9.7.2

The problem is when I am downloading or transfering files.

Downloading from internet with wireless = 6 mbit download
Downloading from internet with network cable attached = 1 mbit download

Transfering files from laptop (wireless) to computer attached to 500gp with network cable = 1 mbit
Transfering files from laptop (cable) to computer attached to 500gp with network cable = 20 mbit

Recieving files to laptop (wireless) from computer = 6 mbit
Recieving files to laptop (cable) from computer = 20 mbit

I find this a bit strange...

Anyway, if I disable Internet it works almost as it should, downloading and uploading speed around 10-30mbit wireless.

Same problem with two different laptops. No difference if I use encryption or not. Have turned of the firewalls on my computers, no difference at all.

Hi I had the same problem with 1.9.7.2 firm. I've downgrade it to 1.9.7.0 and works perfect.

IIRC, there is a problem with Bandwidth Management in latest official Asus firmware. As puffi said, downgrade.

Well, it isn't a typical issue in the 1.9.7.2 firmware. With bandwith management (priority to voip/video) both wireless and wired connection have full blown WAN speeds. LAN speed is another issue, that really sucks in the latest firmware. Re-flashing the same firmware seems to do the trick: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=7175

Well, I used Olegs firmware, and that seemed to do the trick. So the speed is ok now (not good, but ok). And there are still a bunch of problems with this router. But at least one problem solved :)
