Hi all,

I bought a WL-500gP for appr. half a year. So far I used it successfully. with Oleg's firmware WL500gp-1.9.2.7-7e.trx with all usefull services of this router (ssh, http, ftp, samba, rrdtool, bittorent).

Yesterday I wanted to attach a new usb hdd as a secondary one, but after the reboot I could not use the router. It seems that the reboot couldn't finish successfully:

1.) I can not get ip from dhcp on any lan (and -of course- the wan) ports. I tried to set fix 192.168.1.1 (255.255.255.0) on my pc, but it didn't work.

2.) I can see the router through wlan (SSID: Broadcom, no encryption) and I can get address from dhcp (192.168.1.20), but I can not login with putty (telnet), because neighter of the changed username/password or the original one (admin/admin) don't work.

3.) Of course I tried to reset the router with the rear panel button, but the power led doesn't get blinking (after 5-10 sec).

4. I can not reach the web interface of the router on http://192.168.1.1 address neither through wlan.

5.) I tried to use the firmware restoration tool through wlan, but it didn't work ('No wireless device in recovery mode is found.')

Could anyone help me, please?
Thank you in advance.

Get a wire? updating or restoring firmware should only be done by a wired connection...

Get a wire?, but how. If I connect through wire I get only a local address (169.254.166.52/255.255.0.0) and even the ping doesn't work (not reach the 192.168.1.1) (Pls. see point 1. - Same as with fix ip)

1. 192.168.1.1 is the ip of the ruter. Don't u see any IP conflict ?

2. Your router is Up and runing.... Is Good.

5. For firmware restoration you must connect to the router through LAN port and put the router in Recovery Mode.... To do that. Unplug the power cord, keep pres the Reset button and plug the power cord. After few sec,the power led will start flashing. Now you are in recovery mode and you can use the Firmware Restoration Tool

1. Yes, you are right, it's a typing mistake, the manual address was 192.168.1.2
2. :-), but nothing to do with it.
3. The problem was, that the Reset button didn't bring any Reset function or enter into the Recovery Mode (with the method as you mentioned)

By the way, I sent back to the service and finally they changed for an absolutely new one (it was within the guarantee period).

Thank you for your kindly reply.
