i have connected a hp printer to the wl-700.

in the sys log is following:

Dec 5 11:01:26 printd[382]: Startup
Dec 5 11:01:26 printd[382]: Opened server descriptor 4
Dec 5 11:01:26 printd[383]: Create print queue psc-1310-series- device /dev/usb/lp0
Dec 5 11:01:45 printd[554]: Startup
Dec 5 11:01:45 printd[554]: bind: Address already in use
Dec 5 11:03:01 printd[595]: Startup
Dec 5 11:03:01 printd[595]: bind: Address already in use
Dec 5 11:04:46 printd[637]: Startup
Dec 5 11:04:46 printd[637]: bind: Address already in use
Dec 5 11:06:31 printd[676]: Startup

and so on and so on...

what means that? is there anything wrong or is that normal? if not, what should i do? i have reseted, an old firmware, newer firmware, and allways the smame...

and also this port is forwarded throw the router (but i haven't forwarded it manually; dhcp, wan-webaccess)

all UDP 25571 192.168.1.3

Regarding printd "bind: address already in use" messages, I think these are "normal". You'll notice a new message gets logged every time you enter the main configuration page.

I'm convinced there's a braindead chunk of code within the internal web/application server which tries to restart printd every time the config page is opened. Since printd is already running, the second printd can't grab the required network port, burps out the error message, and exits.

One other thing you'll notice is that you must go to the configuration page every time you reset the router or printing will not work.

thanks for the answer kfurge. nice to hear that the messages are normal ;-)

do you maybe also know, why the router opens that port 25571?

when I reset the router and configure it (wlan etc.) its closed... after reboot closed... but when I wait 2-3 hours its opened....

Sorry, no clue about the open port...

I am having a similar problem to that outlined by "gratitude 182". My system log has started reporting the following activity every two minues or so:

Feb 8 20:13:28 printd[4436]: Startup
Feb 8 20:13:28 printd[4436]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 8 20:15:13 printd[4460]: Startup
Feb 8 20:15:13 printd[4460]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 8 20:16:58 printd[4484]: Startup
Feb 8 20:16:58 printd[4484]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 8 20:18:43 printd[4508]: Startup
Feb 8 20:18:43 printd[4508]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 8 20:20:28 printd[4532]: Startup
Feb 8 20:20:28 printd[4532]: bind: Address already in use
Feb 8 20:22:13 printd[4556]: Startup
Feb 8 20:22:13 printd[4556]: bind: Address already in use

The messages are being generated constantly, not just when the configuration page is opened.

The messages started appearing after I pulled the plug on the router yesterday. (It looked as though someone was trying to hack into my router - the system log was reporting FAIL LOGIN: Client "....." at a rate of one per second :( I panicked and pulled the plug without closing the router down properly.)

Is it possible that some dead code has been left behind?

To remedy this problem, I have tried:
- Reinstalling the printer drivers, and
- Closing down all computers attached to the router, then rebooting the router.

The messages still appear even after the USB lead to the printer has been disconnected.

Anyone got any suggestions?
