My Asus WL-500G reports it is disconnected from my CM. Last night I suddenly didn't have a connection anymore. Setup: modem-router-2 pc's. When I get into the webinterface of the Asus (192.168.1.1) ->'status and log' it reports it is disconnected from the server. I checked:

The cable - is ok. A new cable makes no difference
checked all settings - a quick setup made no difference.
The MAC address of the router = NIC Mac address
Connect pc directly to modem - I get an IP address and am connected;
Restart wl500g or modem or a combination thereof- no difference.
Change firmware. Had 1.9.2.7, now I have 1.9.5.0 - no difference.

The modemn DHCP server works: ipconfig /release -/renew gives a LAN address but I still am not online cannot.
The Asus doesn't see the modem anymore. What can I do???

modem: Motorola Arris TM502b
WinXPsp2

Thanks for any help

What firmware are you running on you router?

try to reset your CM to defaults

it should have a web interface at I think 192.168.100.1

and if that does not work try to reset your WL500g also to defaults and start over again with configuring

192.168.100.1 gives me 4 pages with info about the CM but there's nothing to set or reset. I am not familiar with Arris since I used to have a motorola SB4200. (which didn't let me set anything as well).

I think the router is at fault since I can connect to the ISP when connecting the PC directly to the CM.

Bought a new WL-500G router. Now it sees the CM... also with WIFI.
