Блин, чувствую себя последним идиотом...
ВРоде все указываю как надо

А VPN не поднимается.... захожу с теми же установками как СтатикАйПи и на дэсктопе VPN отлично отлично поднимается...
В чем может быть дело? Неуж-то в MS-CHAP2?
Да уж, нужно собраться с мыслями... Ответа не будет, т.к. не указана версия прошивки, нет лога и много чего другого...
Ну для начала проверить бы, что МАК клонирован.
МАК вроде бы значения не имеет, так как без его клонирования Длинк 824 нормально работает (просто он подороже АСУСа будет, да и после глюков 624-го не хочется больше с Длинками связываться)

Это Вы ему сказали соединяться On Demand, поставили Idle Timeout и т.д.
Вбейте адрес ВПН сервера в виде Ip, возможно полегчает.

Нашел одно отличие... в Status & Log - Routing Table:

Cтранно, почему при указани "доменного" имени этого не происходило?
Потому что имя там не резолвится перед добавлением маршрута. Так в логе теперь что?
Так, что - так и должно разве быть? Почему вшивый д-линк умеет обращаться к DNS на этот этапе, а асус - нет?

Потому что прошивки разные и от вшивости не зависит, а зависит от реализации. Если бы Vpn сервер был в Вашей же сети, то всё бы работало. Либо если бы Вы прописали все маршруты в Вашей сети, то тоже бы всё работало. Вбив Ip адрес для ВПН сервера Вы по сути позволили прописать маршрут до него.
Потому что имя там не резолвится перед добавлением маршрута. Так в логе теперь что?
Т.е. VPN сервер можно указывать только в виде IP адреса?
В Вашем случае да.
Но если Вы пропишите до него маршрут в сети Man, то можно и имя писать.

Вот только я все равно не понял, если DNS по адресу 172.17.6.1 "умеет" ресолвиь имя vpn.trifle.net, и как гейтвэй указан тоже 172.17.6.1, то в чем проблема?
Проблема - в реализации. Если интересно - посмотрите исходные тексты.
