Hi,
everything is almost in the tiltle!...
I've flashed my firmware to 1.9.7.0, everything is ok.
I've tried to flash from this 1.9.7.0 to 1.9.2.7-7f-pre7, everytimes
the router's led power flashes slowly and unable to connect...
the only way to "communicate" is to use the restoration utility to restore to 1.9.7.0.
I've tried again and again, but no way to flash to 1.9.2.7-7f-pre7.
Did Asus provided something new in this firmware?

Bye
and thanks oleg for your work!!

From OpenWRT Wiki (http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL500GP):

Looks like most people won't be able to install OpenWrt using the Asus web interface. You can try the web interface in case it works, or skip directly to the tftp part (which works for sure). From Asus Firmware 1.9.7.0 the webinterface doesn't work to upgrade to OpenWRT (bin or micro, 4Mb or 8Mb). If the tftp part fails, you can try the installation with the Asus "firmware restoration" tool (works like a charm, but windows only).

I've tried both.
first time with the web interface
and next times with the Asus firmware restoration tool.
I'll check with tftp as soon as I undesrtand what it is... :D

I try also by TFTP client and did not work too. I could only update my Asus wl-500g premium form original firmware to DD-WRT. OPENWRT and Oleg firmware did not work, I use orginal Asus software to update and also TFTP client. Anybody has something idea how to change firmaware to other than DD-WRT?
