Hello to you all

I've recently acquired a "brand new" HP Officejet 5610 and a WL500G Deluxe. At first I was able to make the printer work with the router. However I needed to scan a couple of pages and I altered the configurations back to USB mode. As you can imagine I can no longer retrieve the original ones for my absolute dispair.
When I originaly did it I remember it was not as simple as following the steps presented by the manual, but I don't recall exactly what made it work. This is what I remember:
1 - Install the printer;
2 - Instal the "Standart TCP/IP Port" -> IP: 192.168.1.1
Queue Name: LPRServer
3 - Instal the "HP Standart TCP/Port" -> IP: 192.168.1.1
Port Name: IP_192.168.1.2
Queue Name: LPRServer

I don't finish steps 2 and 3 because i cant find the printer driver in stadart list of WINDOWS XP, nor in the Internet ou the Original HP cd.

As I said I'm not sure as to this configuration and I've tried everything. I'm getting pretty annoyed, especially because I did it once.
Please help me, which means saying help my girlfriend (the equipment is hers).
If possible please tell me how to configure it to use the scanner and fax also (HP OFFICEJET 5610)

Thanks,

bbetoo

Thanks but no aid is required. I installed the printer without the original software CD.

Could you post the steps you took ?
I just bought a C3180 AIO, and I would like to share it through my WL-500DX.

Thanks

As requested.
1- Put the original printer CD on the optical unit;
2- Cancel the autostart;
3- Connect the USB cable beetwen the pc and the printer;
4- Install all drivers but not the original management software.
5- Install the router software for printer location;
6- Add the "standart TCP/IP port" as described in the manual;
7- Connect the USB cable to the router;

This only works for printer utilities. For scanner capabilities you'll have the ask to anyone more skilled than I. When you get it let me know.

Good luck,

bbetoo

After doing the printer thing a few times--I think the whole process can be simplified into two steps.

First--install the basic printer driver without any printer managment software.

Second--set up a TCPIP printer port using the network address of the WL-500GX.

Scanner ---I have never been able to figure out how to get it to function over the network..
