WL-500b or 500g as access point

Hi,

I already asked this in the German discussion, but without an answer.

I want to use a WL-500 (b or g) as an WLAN access point in a company lan.

- Can I configure the WAN side of the router als a part of a LAN?
- Can I assign an IP manually and with DHCP to the WAN interface ?
- What about the IP addresses in the WLAN? Is it better to use the same as in the LAN or to NAT the addresses in the WLAN?


Im not a network specialist, that´s why I would appreciate some help.

I have used a WL-500 GX as a gateway and as an access point/bridge..

Are you talking about having the the WL-500 communicate wirelessly to the LAN and also to clients---or is part of the set up wired and the other part wireless.?

You can turn the WL-500's DHCP server off and have it get an IP address automatically over the network---which I have done when I had the unit set up an an access point.

Are you using the ASUS firmware or one of the custom firmware builds..?
