I just found out that for some god knows what reason wl-500gp has anonymous ftp access from the internet to the connected HD turned on.
I use the latest asus firmware, does anyone know where the setting is to disable it?

i am not sure, but think it should be in USB application section

The problem may be, if you have the "Enable Download Share" option enabled in the USB Application-Basic settings menu

AFAIK this is a bug in the Asus firmware. I cannot be disabled!

I've found the solution. One must NOT make ftp_pub as a share node, because it always accepts anonymous account. Share node other than ftp_pub rejects the anonymous!

Are you sure???
Check this thread (http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=6588), maybe you will find a bigger security hole in ASUS original firmware! :cool:
