Do I still need to use 54g protection if I am 54g only? I currently have it checked, but didn't know if it helped filter out signals better from other .11b APs (there are a lot in my neighborhood).
Hi,
54g protection "protects" the 802.11g traffic from collisions with 802.11b if 802.11b clients are additionally used in your network. In this case 54g traffic will lose "only" 20% (may be more than 20%, if 54g protection is not enabled!) of its performance vor avoiding collisions with 802.11b. If you don't have any 802.11b clients, you should deactivate this option.
