hello all,

while searching via Google for a solution for my problem i ran into this forum. Unfortunately i also couldn't find any hints on this board so i'm creating this new thread. My problem:

I'm using the WL500g to connect several (up to now only wired) clients via my cable modem to the I-net. Connection to the Router and the WAN in general is ok but: Domain names can't be resolved automatically. E.g. i can connect to google via "http://66.102.11.99/" but not via "http://www.google.com".

The firmware i'm using is v1.7.5.6. I attached Screenshots of the corresponding settings of the router. You can see the correct DNS addresses of my ISP in the "Status" page but somehow it doesn't work anyway...

For the moment i made a work-around by filling in the DNS address directly to the TCP/IP properties of the network card, but i'd love to get around this problem. (It worked with my old router and more or less the same settings).

Thanks in advance for any help!

Fill in DNS Server 1 address (the router DHCP properties) instead (insert your Provider's Primary DNS address there). Then your workstations can get this address automatically from the router using DHCP (if this feature is enabled on workstations as well - it depends on the OS you have installed).

ah, yes, thanks. that worked. but: since the router got the DNS servers from my ISP already (as stated in the "status" page), why can't it "forward" this information directly? Because IF my ISP changes the DNS addresses i have to change it also manually...

and yes, on the clients i have set the properties to "Obtain IP and DNS automatically".

It costed me two nights to find this out. I tought that the DHCP server automaticly copies over the DNS from the provider but it doesn't.

Thanks for the help.
