I'm having trouble getting my USB harddrive to work as a FTP server on my ASUS wl500g. I had an USB flah pen drive and an USB printer connected to my router using an USB hub. It worked fine with the FTP service so I decided to buy an external harddrive, but I can't seem to get it to work. When I try to log in using IE it says:

"Welcome to FTP server" and "No anonymous log-on allowed, access denied".

No surprise there, since I have disabeled the anonymous log-in function, but when I try to log in with my username and password nothing happens. When I tried logging inwith my FTP client (WS_FTP Pro) I got the error message: Home directory not found. I tried to add a folder on the harddrive but that didn't help...When I used my USB pen I noticed the Router software added the account folders automatically, but obvuously that doesn't work on my new USB harddrive. The Harddrive is a TARGA USB 300GB and the current firmware one my router is Oleg's 1.9.2.7-7e. (I believe this is the latest release?)

this is a copy of the system log:

UPDATE: I finnally got it working by formatting my external harddrive to FAT32 filesystem, but the dowside by using FAT32 filesystem is that I can only make 24GB partitions at a time, whcich is very unpractical since the harddrive is 300Gb

Hi,
I don't know but you can format disk as Ext3 partition.
