Hi all.

I have a FTP server installed on my PC (192.168.1.10) but I want to access it outside my network. I have a WL500g (192.168.1.1) as router and a Zoom X4 DSL modem (192.168.1.250) connected not to the wan port of the router, but to one of the lan ports.

What kind of config should I make in order to access to my ftp server from outside my lan?

Thanks,
Miguel

Mount the cable from xDSL-modem into WAN-port and then forward your ftp port (port 21 standard) to your computer which run as a ftp-server...

I've thinked of that, but last time I've had the xDSL modem on the WAN port, it was a big mess, full of connection problems and all that.

I will keep the connection as is, and if someone can give a clue.

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi.

I've decided to connect the modem to the wan port, besides some problems with connections down from time to time.

The problem now is that I can't put the virtual server to work! I've tried to put port 21 in the WL500g pointing to my ftp server but nothing! I've done it also in the Zoom X4 modem but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Miguel

Hi.

Forget about this. I've managed to put it working.

Hello.

Unfortunately, it's not working! I have the Zoom X4 with IP 10.0.0.2, the Asus WL500g with IP 192.168.1.1 and a FTP server running on a machine with IP 192.168.1.10. The Asus gets the IP 10.0.0.5 from the Zoom X4 ADSL modem.

My problem is that I can't access to the FTP server from the WAN. I've opened port 21 on the virtual server of the Zoom modem pointing to IP 10.0.0.5, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.10 and none of this configurations worked.

I've also added port 21 to the virtual server of the Asus router pointing to IP 192.168.1.10 but without success.

What must be done in order to open port 21 to have access from the WAN? The only way I can access the FTP server is from the LAN side.

Thanks,
Miguel
