FTP access problem

I have the Oleg's latest firmware (1.9.2.7-7c) in my Wl-500G Deluxe router.

My problem is I can't use the most of FTP sites.
When I want to download usually is halts after '150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for ...'
Waiting... timeout... again...

I wanted to download a driver from an FTP site. I tried it with a browser, and with Far Manager. It didn't work.
But now I'm succesfully downloaded it with Far Manmager but other FTP sites still don't work.

So I don't know what's wrong.

The FTP worked fine with a previous version of Oleg's firmware, but I don't know which one was it. I tried to reset the router to the Factory default settings but it still have the problem.
Also, I tried to disable the firewall but it didn't help.

Anyone have an idea?

I have the same problem.
I first get the problem on the official asus firmware (I think starting from 1.9.2.7).
Then I tried the Olegs 1.9.2.7 6c (which was the latest one at that time, and first for me) and ftp worked again. from of Olegs 1.9.2.7 7b (I didn't tried 1.9.2.7 7a) the problem is back. It is already mentioned in the 1.9.2.7 7 forum and in the 1.9.2.7 6 forum it was named something as "pppoe/pptp mss clamping".
I don't know the status now, but it is quite annoying, that such a normal use of Inet can't work.

I`ve got the same problem. Does anybody have some solition? having a router which doesn not allow to connect to any public ftp server is for nothing:-)

I am using latest sw as u do and have no FTP access anymoer. Used asus stock firmware 1.9.5.0 with success. However, have any of you installed the ipkg vsftp server or are you using the stupid server as in stock firmware? prehaps this is the problem... Will try later to install vsftp and see how it works

I use VSFTPD and its great. Never crashes- its rock solid and I've found no bugs at all.

pretty easy to setup- make sure you have done all the prerequisites first

It seems that there is a problem with certain releases of formware, original and Olegs. But with latest Olegs firmware (1.9.2.7-7e) it works well, problems has disappeared.
