Hey guys,
Another question...
I found out how to increase the radio output power of the wl-500g.
But I dont have a clue how I can change it on my w400 internal wifi chip/card.
I have a HP/Compaq nc6000 laptop with this integrated wifi card.
Anyone know how I can change it so I can increase my radio signal?
Thanks
Well, this feature is not usually enabled for end-users because of FCC rules...
I am afraid you can't change it at all...
Thanks for the reply m8
So there is no way (softwarewise) that I can expand the radio signal?
It is very unlikely you can do it. There are Linux drivers for some WiFi chipsets which allows to tune up the output power but it does not apply for Windows... Also I saw some solution for one WiFi PC card - it was necessary to edit internal EEPROM to change the output power... So if you get some VERY detailed information about your WiFi chipset... ;) But usually it's not easy at all...
On my Wl-500g P the command "Wl txpwr 100" puts it up to 100 Mw/20 dB
(thru commandline interface: http://192.168.0.1/Main_AdmStatus_Content.asp )
But you'll have to set the couytry code to GB first. Other countries are limited (legal issues). This way I can (the screen says so) put it up to 31 dB/1400 Mw (!)
I don't know if it's healthy for the modem though...
