Hi there!
I just bought a WL500G deluxe and it's running nice with my printer and so.
But today I noticed that my downloadspeed won't go higher than 9,3Mbit/sec when I test with a bandwith tester called TP-test.
Before when I was using another router I've got full speed (ca 20Mbit/sec)
Can't the Asus handle that speed or what is the problem?
Please tell me that I won't have to use my old router + the new Asus for the printerserver...

I also have a 500gx and I tested it for it's max throughput on WAN port. Result was 20MBit max.
Are any of the bandwith limitations set (QoS)? And wich firmware is on it, fresh from stock they usually have a pretty old one. Maybe you should try Olegs latest FW.

I've updated to the latest FW from Asus webpage. None of the QoS and so on is activated, no firewall or so either.
If I change FW to Olegs, will I still have the same WEB-GUI? Do I have to change a lot of things just to get started?

Please try OLegs FW. Yes, you will see the webpages as for the original ASUS FW but with a lot of extended features.
If you use dhcp on wan port and dhcp for the normal lan1-4 ports you dont have to configure anything......

Now I tried Olegs FW, but I cant say that it's faster now. I think that I'll plug in my old m0n0wall-routern for the moment at least. But hey, It would be quite nice if I don't have to have another computer up 'n running...

Another idea I had, is that possibly the WAN port only connects with 10MBit to your DSL-Modem or whatever you have there. Just don't have any idea how to check that out easily. Any1?
