I'm looking for an alternative router/firewall for myself, and since space+energy is an issue right now, I don't want to set up an old PC.

The problem is that my current router is limited to ca. 254 concurrent TPC+UDP connections (which in clueless newbie English would mean: "help me, my router freezes frequently" :D ). I have some strict limits on my (P2P and other) software as per how many connections it can open so I don't encounter such problems. But as I'm about to switch to VDSL, I don't want to put such limits around the software anymore (plus I want my Freenet node to function better than it does now with all these limitations).

Now... is WL-500g DeLuxe also limited to 254 connections at most? Or can it handle more? I've found some FAQ somewhere claiming that from firmware version 1.9.3.6 on, this router can now handle 4096 connections? Is there any "official" (or tested) info regarding this?

Seems to me that this has been discussed often enough on this forum. Search for 'concurrent connections'.
