1) HDD via USB-IDE converter, access via samba (windows share) or FTP. On Asus's standart firmware-only FTP.
2) USB 2.0. in THIS device doesn't give you full speed. So, the actual speed can be much lower than you want. USE search to find the values of speed, i don't remember exactly.
3) Not all printers can be sahared!! Some have troubles. It's better to ask here about your model.

Excuse, I don't understand to HDD.
I have this box, http://www.conceptronic.net/site/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=200&Cat=30&grp=3010&ar=195&Prod_ID=728&Prod=CHD3FWU , with a 160Gb. I can write/read and erase files??
