disconnect the power of USB

nearly a buy a new laptop hard drive of 2.5 i connected by my assus wl500g and share my files with smbd.
I apreciated that the disc don't leave of workin in all day i worry because don't stop off rotate.
My question is: It's possible diconnect the power off USB for turn off the disc via software?

Hi

USB Bus Power is not switchable by software, on no hardware. Strange idea afterall.
Notebook HD´s can run 24/7 with not much impact on lifetime if not getting too warm. Please use the hopefully suplied powersuply for the HD, they exceed alowed power drain of USB even if other statements are presend in your usb case documentation. This may harm your router, in good case only popping usb-port fuse inside.

Hi Thank you for your answer.
Maybe another possibility is try put the hd in a sleep mode, similar who a windows make but i don't know if this is posible in a HD connected in a USB and if this is posible in a openwrt.
Anybody have any idea?
