How can I bridge 2 wl500g's?

Hi,

I just purchased my 2nd WL500g and now struggle to get it bridged to my 1st WL500g. No succes yet and the Asus manual isn't telling me enough to figure it out by myself. Both routers run firmware 1.9.5.0


I'm trying to get the following situation:

Can anyone give me some hints?


Edit: Things seem to be working :D

I put both routers in 'hybrid' mode [Wireless - Bridge menu]
Gave both routers the same SSID [wireless - interface menu]
Gave router 2 a different ip-addres in stead of the standard 192.168.1.1 [IP Config - WAN & LAN menu]
In te remote bridge list of router 1 I put the mac adres from router 2,
in te remote bridge list of router 2 I put the mac adres from router 1. [Wireless - Bridge menu]
Routers have their DHCP server enabled on different ranges (eg. router 1 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.19 and router 2 192.168.1.20-192.168.1.29) [IP Config - DHCP Server menu]
Router 2 uses Router 1 as DNS server [IP Config - DHCP Server menu]
Both are setup as home gateway [System Setup - Operation Mode menu] Later I'll try to set router 2 as AP only, loggin in on router 2 now gives the "cable not attached" error

I'm still not sure if this is a proper setup.
Will my laptop choose the router with best connection? It seems to be allways get an ip addres from router 1, even when router 2 is physically closer.

You only need to give the first router an IP.

Set the second router in AP mode and disable the DHCP of this router and do not give it an IP adres the DHCP of the first router schould give it to the second router and all its clients.

You have in this moment two DHCP servers fighting in the same network for who can give IP adresses.

Yes, I figured that out while thinking about . It seems all my doubts/questions are answered by setting router 2 in AP modus. That makes the whole setup real easy. Things seem to work stable.
