Hi there,
I have a problem with my WL500gx that it doesn't find the flashdisc connected. Or maybe I just don't know what's the device name. When I do "df", it only shows me the /dev/root filesystem.
In the log file I've found following lines

Jan 1 01:00:05 kernel: sflash: found no supported devices
Jan 1 01:00:10 kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
Jan 1 01:00:10 kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage
Jan 1 01:00:10 kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.

Are these related to my flashdisc anyhow? What should I find in the log if the flashdisc is recognized correctly?
Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Perhaps your flash drive does not contain a MBR record (i.e. formated like a floppy). You need create an MBR using a tool like a PartitionMagic and reformat a drive.

Thanks for the advice... that's the problem most likely. Problem now is that the version of Partition Magic I have (8.0 from PowerQuest) doesn't support removable media... I've also tried FixMBR, MBRTool and some formating tool from HP... but it still doesn't work. In the log file there's now following new items:
Jan 1 01:00:08 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 01:02.2-2, assigned address 2
Jan 1 01:00:08 kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-71)
Jan 1 01:00:08 kernel: hub.c: new USB device 01:02.2-2, assigned address 3
Jan 1 01:00:08 kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-71)

This is something new but I still don't know if the MBR is there... is there any way to find it out? Do you know what other tool can I use to create the MBR?

Thanks a lot
