Firmware for the WL-500b can be found here: ftp://www.asus.it/pub/ASUS/wireless/WL-500b-03/wg01060503_WL500b_en.zip
It seems it was not officially released yet as the download webpage does not point to the file at the moment.

Printing via LPR works: You have to choose lpr-printing to the ip of the asus (e.g. 192.168.1.1), than choose LPRServer as the name of the printing queue! Works with Mac OS X.

The tricky thing was the name of the printer queue name LPRServer.

I wonder how printing works if you plug in a parallel AND a usb printer at the same time?

edit: Sorry, i made a typo: It is LPRServer, not LRPServer of course

No news in new User's Manual ( V3 E1485 December 2003). Besides FAQ says: "WL-500g can only support one printer if two ports are used. USB printer will be the first priority if you attach two printers to WL-500g. ", 2003/11/21.

The LPR settings is described in the new version of manual (Eng_pdf_E1485.zip which can be found at ASUS FTP servers) as well. There are also details related to FTP daemon configuration and use.

Does this version have better stability than 1.6.4.8? The one that would do random restarts.

First big bug !

I have a server for http, dc, ftp, smtp, ventrilo etc.

I'm lazy so I'm running Virtual DMZ. The new firmware won't let port 80 through. Every other port, but port 80.

So I have to configure the manual thing for port 80 and the rest just DMZ for it to work. not good at all.
