hi ppl, me again. I bought a new AP (the old one I bricked is still non working) and this time I will try Oleg's FW instead of DD-WRT. My big question is:
Will Oleg's FW work properly on ASUS WL-500G DELUXE (FCC ID MSQWL500GD), the european edition (http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=1311)?
Please someone who tried this and is using this FW, can you confirm that Oleg's FW+WL500G Deluxe will work OK?

I'm in Germany (seems pretty much European ;) ), bought my wl500g deluxe 2-3 weeks ago.
The really shocking thing for me was that it had crashed firmware right when I took it out of the box. But with firmware restoration mode I got it to work.
So far I tested Olegs1.9.2.7-6b, Olegs1.9.2.7-6c-pre5 and Asus 1.9.5.0. They are ALL working for me, though I had problems when going back to 1.9.2.7-6c-pre5 from Asus 1.9.5.0 (had pre5 running before so I knew it should work). Now I think it was because I did not reset to factory defaults before flashing it. I tried to flash from 1.9.5.0 to 6c-pre5 once more and this time I set factory defaults and it worked.
Hope this helps. No guarantee that it works fine for you too, tho. (just so you don't blame me afterwards ;) )
Edit: just compared FCC-ID, it's the same
Thanx a lot.. :cool: I was cautios because it seems that DD-WRT v.23 bricked the AP beyond any repair -- so everyone else beware if you wish to try DD-WRT.
One more question -- is there a page which lists added features in Oleg's FW over the official FW? Also, is Oleg's a command line only or does it have a web interface? Thanxx
Read http://oleg.wl500g.info for the list of features. Yes, it has web interface, just like original firmware.

May I mention that it has the same web interface as the asus firmware, but with SOME NICE EXTRA FEATURES? :eek: :)
