Boost signal with a weblink...

I'm almost 100% sure it was on my WL-500G, I found a link with a string to enter to boost my signal.
It was something like

http://192.168.1.1/admin

There i found a textbox i entered a string like signal_strength 28 and it would boost my signal.

Can anyone confirm this? And I need to know what the string and link is... I'm having trouble with giving my rentant internet access.
About 20 m away from the access point.

Is there anything other I can do? I've tried the newest oleg firmware, dosn't help.

I've tried same things, signal strength is really bad on this router. i have even bought a new external antenna 8dbi, didn't help much! can't use my laptop in a room 4m away from the router, though i can use my neighbours linksys wrtg54 router! sux..
