Hi!
Is there a way to telnet to the router or even install and use ssh?

yes there is a way (for telnetting),
now i'm @ work so can't make a simple howto in few seconds, i'll try to post a HowTo this weekend (or maybe another user will..)

As I don't understand Dutch comments, I was not successfull with making the Telnet daemon working on my 1.6.4.6 version (IP changed to 192.168.1.1 so the command window opened OK but the telnet daemon did not start). FTP daemon activation works fine using corrected links from this nice thread: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11
Update - Telnet is working fine for me now thanks to this direction: http://erhnam.demon.nl/asus-wlan-hack/
