samba and oleg tutorial

Sorry my bad english...

Please help me.

I have a new router asus WL500 deluxe. Make update to firmware 1.9.2.7-6b from oleg. router works fine.
Now i liked use the samba on my usb harddisk. in webinterface has samba demo aktiveted. my usb harddisk is formated (37 GB) in fat32. connect with ftp client to usb harddisk is no problem, but i can not access via samba share. so i think to do the tutorial from oleg http://www.macsat.com/samba.php.

But in first line of the turorial we have the first problem as this:

asus500 login: admin
Password:
[admin@asus500 root]$ mkdir /opt/etc/samba
mkdir: Cannot create directory `/opt/etc/samba': No such file or directory
[admin@asus500 root]$

[admin@asus500 /]$ mkdir /opt/etc/samba
mkdir: Cannot create directory `/opt/etc/samba': No such file or directory
[admin@asus500 /]$


we edit the smb.conf and save it. after reboot WL500.delux the smb.conf we see
that is not saved?


[admin@asus500 etc]$ cat smb.conf
[global]
interfaces = br0
bind interfaces only = yes
workgroup = workgroup
guest account = nobody
security = share
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes
guest only = yes
log level = 1
max log size = 100
encrypt passwords = no

Try to create mkdir /opt/etc first.




we edit the smb.conf and save it. after reboot WL500.delux the smb.conf we see

You have to flash it to the ram.
try to:

flashfs save
flashfs commit
flashfs enable
After that cou can reboot.

not works. After flash into ram, the edit lines not avalibled. in the orginal smb.conf. I must testing with a new smb.conf file in opt/etc/samba

I install your new firmware(1.9.2.7-8) to my Asus WL500gP ,and I heve a problem with samba.I have enabled demo samba mode in routers menu ,If a connect with putty and write vi /etc/smb.conf putty write me smb.conf config file bud If I try change some perameters in this file ,then i write It :wq! and write flashfs save && flashfs commit && flashfs enable && reboot.After reboot router the parameters in smb.conf are no changed.
Where is the problem?
